Company Background

Laub Group of Florida, Inc. is a privately-owned corporation founded in February 1998 by Florida native, Susan Straker, and Robert Virtue, who has thirty years of insurance and reinsurance experience in the US, European and Bermudian insurance markets.

Laub was founded to serve as a wholesale Managing General Agent for two residential commercial JUA takeouts.

The challenge in post-Andrew Florida was - and continues to be - to attract quality property carriers willing to write catastrophe insurance in the State of Florida. Laub worked closely with Reliance National to this end (1998-2000) and continues to enjoy a privileged relationship with Royal Indemnity, Royal Surplus lines and, most recently, AXA Corporate Solutions / AXA Re.

Until November 2001, Laub was specialized in commercial property risks (condos and apartment buildings). In December 2001, the Company opened a new Marine Division based in Boca Raton, Florida underwriting marine programs, which includes pleasure boats, charters, excursion boats, marine artisan contractors, docks and piers and boat dealers/marinas.

Laub is in the process of setting up new programs allowing the group to write Wind Deductible Buy-backs, CGL, Flood and Fine Arts.

Laub is licensed by the State of Florida as a Managing General Agent and Reinsurance, and is awaiting appointments in New York and Bermuda. LGF Elgin is licensed to do business with its affiliate, Quality Insurance Partners.
